Royal Albert Hall

Royal Albert Hall
Completed in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is one of London's best-loved public buildings. It is admired for its elegant circular exterior, its plush auditorium and, not least, for the performances that take place inside it. Every summer, at the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, popular classical music is played to an audience of devotees, many of them young, who can either sit in the seats or "promenade" in the arena and galleries. The last night of the season, a mixture of hilarity and patriotism, has become a national occasion.
